I tend to set multiple alarms to get me up in the morning. The first of which goes off at 6.30 AM. Some days I’ll get up immediately, others I’ll sleep in for a little while longer until my next alarm rings.
6.30 AM
After finally getting up, I begin getting myself ready for my day. I grab a small bite to eat for breakfast.
7.30 AM
I live quite a distance from the office so my usual commute to work takes over an hour. I sometimes arrive earlier and arrive later on some days depending on the traffic.
9.00 AM
I’m usually in the office by 9 AM and this is when I’ll get myself settled and ready to begin the work day. I’ll greet my co-workers, set up my laptop, connect it to my keyboard and monitor, and open up my browser.
9.15 AM
If I have a pending task that requires to be completed I’d immediately begin working on it, otherwise I’d have a brief conversation with our product manager on what needs to be done. On this day I had some pending work related to creating Email templates which would be sent out to Customers. This is done through Sendgrid.
Since I had already created and edited most of these templates the day before, this morning involved me having to verify that all the correct information was present within those templates and add on a few relevant links to them.
12.00 PM
Lunch is something that most of us at FieldEx look forward to since we tend to eat at different places everyday. On some days, I’d bring my own but that wasn’t the case today.
1.00 PM
Since I had completed working on the Email templates prior to lunch, now I was able to focus on finishing up some other work that had been pending. This involved documenting certain modules to be used as tutorial resources for new users, where they can refer to this information and understand how our software works. We call this, FieldEx Academy. Today I managed to complete some documentation regarding the Calendly integration module. Here I’d provide a brief description of its functionality, list down the path within the module, and then provide a step by step explanation on how it works. I also provide a table consisting of key fields and a function summary with a short description of them.
4.30 PM
Today I actually didn’t notice how fast the time was flying by since I was preoccupied with working. Next thing I knew it was already around 4.30 PM. Our workday lasts for 8 hours, so we can leave earlier if we entered the office earlier too. I did a double check on what I had worked on today and then began to pack to go home.
5.00 PM
The commute back home is usually the same as the commute to work. It can vary depending on traffic. During my commute I tend to listen to music or podcasts, recently though I’d become obsessed with the rotten mango podcast and have been binging through episodes on my way to and from work.
7.00 PM
The traffic today was really bad so it took a long time before I arrived back home. On arrival, it was finally time to relax and unwind from work. I took a long hot shower and then had dinner with my family after. Since it was a Friday, I had the chance to meet up with my friends and spend some time catching up with them at a nearby restaurant.
10.00 PM
Usually I’d spend some time towards the end of the day doing something that I’d like to do. I’d either read a book, watch a movie or series, play a game, or crochet something. Today, I tried learning how to knit but it didn’t go well and I ended up scrapping what I was working on.
11.00 PM
I usually go to bed around 11 PM to 12 AM depending on the day. Today it was the weekend so I spent a bit more time awake on my phone before finally heading to bed.
