Your role

Malaysia Student Work Placement opportunities are available in the following business areas.

Wealth and Personal Banking 

• HSBC helps customers take care of their day-to-day finances and manage, protect, and grow their wealth. Their international network and breadth of expertise enable them to support individuals, families, business owners, investors, and entrepreneurs around the world

Global Banking & Markets (Global Banking, Markets & Securities Services and Wholesale Client Services)

• HSBC's Global Banking & Markets business focuses on building partnerships with its corporate, government, and institutional clients to help them achieve consistent, long-term performance. They use the strength of HSBC’s international network to connect emerging and mature markets, covering key growth areas. Their products and services include advisory, financing, prime services, research and analysis, securities services, trading and sales, and transaction banking.

Commercial Banking (Business Banking and International Subsidiary Banking)

• HSBC provides businesses with banking services in both home markets and overseas. These include trade and receivables finance, global liquidity and cash management, multi-currency accounts, commercial cards, overdrafts, working capital finance, term loans, and syndicated, leveraged, acquisition, and project finance.

Global Functions (Risk, Compliance, Legal, Marketing, Communications, Human Resource and Finance)

• It plays a vital role in supporting the bank’s Global Businesses, which includes areas from legal, risk, and finance to human resources, sustainability, marketing, and communications.

Digital Business Services (Operations, Technology, and Key Central Business Services)

• HSBC's Digital Business Services teams are the foundation of HSBC, providing essential support across technology, operations, and key central business services for its global businesses and functions. They play a vital role in driving great experiences for customers and colleagues and enabling the bank’s strategy.

During your Placement, you will be challenged to use your talents and academic knowledge to add value to the bank and improve your professional and personal skills. About you

Requirements for this internship:

• You must be an undergraduate student studying in any discipline with availability to work full-time from March/ April 2024 for a minimum duration of 10 to 12 weeks.

What you must possess:

• Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail-oriented and organized, with strong time management abilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively.
